Firefighter home loans

Home loans for firefighters

You run in when everyone else runs out. Some lenders reward that: they lend firefighters more, skip lenders mortgage insurance or pay cash back. We search a panel of 75 lenders and tell you who's offering what right now.

How much can a firefighter borrow?

It depends on your pay, your debts and your living costs. Your roster can lift it.

Most lenders count only part of your overtime. Some count all of it, and your allowances, if you are a firefighter. That can lift how much you can borrow.

Also an auxiliary firefighter on top of another job? Tell us: lenders treat a second job differently, and some need you to have done it for a while first. Send us your last two payslips and we will tell you how much you could borrow.

Can firefighters skip LMI?

You may be able to. Some lenders cover or waive lenders mortgage insurance for firefighters.

LMI is a one-off cost most lenders charge when you borrow more than 80% of the property's value. Some lenders will cover it or waive it for firefighters. Conditions apply, so ask us who's offering it right now.

Buying your first home? The Australian Government 5% Deposit Scheme can also mean no LMI with a 5% deposit, whatever your job (price caps apply).

Cash back for firefighters

Some lenders pay emergency workers cash back when you buy or refinance. That can cover your loan costs, and even part of your first repayment. Conditions apply, and offers come and go, so ask us which ones are running right now.

From lenders' own product sheets, policy documents and broker offers we hold, checked 14-10-2026. Offers change and end without notice, and conditions apply. General information only, not credit advice, and it does not consider your objectives, financial situation or needs.

How we help

Send us your last two payslips. We tell you how much you could borrow and which deals you qualify for.

Then we do the paperwork and deal with the lender, from pre-approval to settlement, around your shifts. Our home loan service costs you nothing: the lender pays us when your loan settles. We are a veteran-owned brokerage: we know service life, and we know how lenders read shift pay.
